healthy cats and owners

There is a very old and true saying that prevention is better than cure. We do this in so many different ways with our families – most parents have their children vaccinated for polio, German measles, whooping cough and tetanus. We give them vitamin C during winter to keep colds and flu at bay and use sun screen during summer to prevent melanomas.

You can do the same thing with your beautiful cat or kitten. Preventative measures to keep it healthy are much better and certainly cheaper than the alternative of expensive vet bills.

Try these 7 top tips to keep your cat healthy and you’ll not only save money, you’ll enjoy being able to play with or cuddle a healthy cat.

  1. If you give your cat dry food, make sure it is the best quality you can afford. Aim for gluten free and try to avoid having corn and wheat as the major or first ingredient on the label.

  2. Make sure that at least half of your cat’s daily food is wet food, can or sachet. This is a great way to avoid urinary tract diseases.

  3. Try to make your own cat food sometimes. This way you know exactly what is in it. I’ll include a recipe here for you.

  4. Try using a raw diet for a change. The old saying variety is the spice of life goes for cats as well. They can get sick of eating the same thing every day.

  5. Give your cat a supplement such as the Ultimate Feline Health Formula to improve overall health. Do you take supplements? Your cat should too.

  6. Vaccinate your kittens and give them two boosters but only for things such as Rabies, Calic, Herpes and Panleuk. After that vaccinate every three years. Some veterinary advice suggests that yearly boosters could do more harm than good.

  7. Finally, learn how to heal your pet at home as much as you can. Use commonsense and learn the basics of first aid.

Dr Jones’ has whole sections on alternative methods of healing your cat (or dog) at home using alternative therapies in his ebook *Veterinary Secrets Version 2. In fact I learned all these tips about preventative medicine from reading his ebook. Tips such as using vitamin C for urinary tract infections or green tea supplements for cancer.

Being in control of your cat’s health and healing it yourself creates an incredibly strong bond between you. Your care will be repaid many times over throughout the years you have together. And you will save money on vet bills which is a biggie where I’m concerned.
